Karen has over 20 years experience in live communication. She started her career in Chicago working for several global events agencies, primarily with end clients in the pharmaceutical and automotive sectors. In 1997, Karen relocated to Hong Kong to work on the official Hong Kong Handover Ceremonies for Caribiner International, where she worked for two years as a Project Director. Also in Hong Kong, Karen founded and ran a boutique events agency called Events 360, servicing primarily multinational clients in automotive and banking. In 2006 Karen moved to Shanghai as Managing Director to develop Uniplan’s overall service platform, especially in events. She has helped to build Uniplan from approximately 60 people in 2006 to over 250 now working in China. Uniplan is now a leading live communication agency in China, producing exhibitions and events for a broad range of clients.

Priscilla Chan, Founder & Director, Speakers Connect

Believing that it is ideas that bring about changes and advancement, Priscilla founded Speakers Connect and China Speakers Agency to help spread good ideas. With an Asian focus and a global perspective, her speaker agencies bring today’s best and brightest speakers from around the world to inspire and enrich corporate event audience with dynamic ideas and fresh insights. Priscilla’s clients include HSBC, IBM, McKinsey, Cisco, Nestle, MARS and LVMH among others. Top-notched speakers and celebrities she has worked with include Lord Chris Patten, Chairman of the BBC Trust and former Governor of Hong Kong; Sigourney Weaver, leading actress of the Aliens series; Malcolm Gladwell, best-selling author of Tipping Point, and many more.

 

Patrick Chen, Deputy Director, International Tourism Promotion Department, Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration

Patrick was graduated from Shanghai University, MPA of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He joined in Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration on 1998 and worked in Personnel Dept and International Tourism Promotion Dept.
He’s in charge of the international marketing and promotion with North American and Europe Market for Shanghai Tourism and focus on international meetings, conferences and incentive travel promotion for the city of Shanghai as well. On behalf of SMTA, Patrick is an active member of ICCA and be the vice chairman of ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter since 2010-2013.

 

Darren Chuckry, Executive Director Client Services, Uniplan

Darren Chuckry is a seasoned professional with progressive experience in cross-media marketing, production, distribution and Live Communication. He joined Uniplan Hong Kong in October 2010 as Events Director, and currently serves as Executive Director of Client Services for the company. During his time with the company, Darren has successfully led the Uniplan Hong Kong team to build a loyal client-base consisting of world-class brands including Maserati, Audi, Audemars Piguet, Citibank and Moët & Chandon. Currently, Darren continues to be the key driving force behind Uniplan’s rapid growth while ensuring the consistent exceptional delivery of high-profile events for clients with lasting regional and global impact.

Darren joined the team with over 20 years of management experience in the entertainment and media sector. His background brings an immense depth of international live media production including; product launches, gala awards, and conferences to the Uniplan team.

Before making the exciting move to Asia, Darren was based in Los Angeles and served as the Executive Vice President of IndieClick, an interactive agency that works with brands, advertisers, agencies and studios to create and deploy digital marketing strategies.
 

 

John Crozier-Durham, Foreign Service Centre Business Development Manager , Shanghai Tony Tang Law Firm

John Crozier-Durham is a cross-cultural legal professional who has spent the last three and a half years immersed in China’s legal and commercial landscape. After graduating from Monash University with a BA/LLB John made the move to Shanghai and now works at Tang and Partners Law Firm. There, he established and manages the firm’s Foreign Service Centre. The FSC is a department within the firm which seeks to manage the relationship between the firm’s foreign clients (who are largely Australian businesses ranging from small to medium enterprises to publicly listed companies) and the firm’s Chinese legal team. John and his team can engage in a large range of different legal transactions on behalf of foreign clients; however there is a distinct expertise and focus within the firm on Chinese HR and labour law.

Eric Cuthbertson, Vice President of Operations, AEG China

Eric Cuthbertson joined AEG China in 2010 to work on the Mercedes-Benz Arena, and was closely involved with the sales, events and operations departments implementing international industry best practices and customizing initiatives to meet the unique venue characteristics. As VP of Operations, he provides support and arena expertise to AEG China facilities and consulting clients.

Eric is a proud graduate of the Sport and Entertainment program at the University of South Carolina with over 2 years experience in the live event and facilities industry. He started with Ogden Entertainment Services at the North Charleston Coliseum in the marketing and sales office and eventually became Marketing Director of another Ogden entity, South Carolina Automated Ticketing (SCAT). 

Martin Donovan, Editor, CEI Asia

 Martin Donovan is the Editor of CEI Asia. He has notched up two decades as journalist in Asia and the UK, both as an editor and writer. Previous to working with Haymarket, he edited print and digital publications for the SCMP Group and, in the UK, Trinity Mirror. He began covering Asia’s incentive, conference and event sectors in 2006.

Frankie Gao, Managing Director, China, MCI Group

 Frankie GAO is currently serving as the Managing Director of MCI China, managing operations of two offices in Beijing and Shanghai, and leading his team to carry out main businesses of Association Management & Consulting, Creative Services & Production , Destination Management, Corporate Meeting & Event Management, Professional Conference/Congress Organization , Performance Improvement Program.

Under his leadership, MCI China’s business has been exponentially growing each year. The number of full-time employees also expanded from just a few to near two hundreds. With the talent pool mainly consisting of local employees, MCI also absorbed some talents from USA, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Australia, Switzerland, Finland, etc., constructing a truly international team.

In year 2013, MCI China managed over 600 projects around 86 Chinese cities and 36 international cities bring the company into a new level. 

Mariska Kiewwiet de Jonge, General Manager, Benelux Chamber of Commerce

Mariska Kiewiet de Jonge-Rimmelzwaan is General Manager for BenCham Shanghai, the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China. She is from the Netherlands and has an Indonesian background. Before she started working for the Chamber in 2010, she worked and lived six years in Wuxi together with her husband and their two sons. She experienced many aspects of the Chinese culture by visiting factories of different industries all over China for Dutch companies. Mariska has been supporting these companies with their marketing, sourcing, quality control and logistics in various branches. Before coming to China, she worked as marketing/ communication manager in the Netherlands for more than 10 years.  

Thomas Meyer, Co-Founder,, Mobile Now Group

Thomas has 14 years experience working on leading edge mobile media, mobile marketing and mobile business initiatives.
An internationally, experienced mobile specialist, Thomas has consulted and won awards for leading agencies, brands and clients including Ogilvy, Wunderman, Y&R, Saatchi & Saatchi, Grey, iconmobile, Microsoft, Visa, Diageo, Ford, Motorola, Nokia, Vodafone, P&G and Unilever.
Thomas worked 8 years in Singapore, 1 in London and 5 in China, as a Mobile Strategist.
Today, Thomas is focused on a select number of self-start initiatives as well as high-profile, dynamic mobile consultancy projects for Mobile Now clients. This entails delivering infrastructure, technical, creative and value-driven mobile solutions.
A former video game addict, Thomas has successfully traded his console for scuba diving... but then came the iPhone. In his spare time, he enjoys globetrotting in search of the unique and unusual.

 

Stuart Harris, Co-Founder & Director, Team Building Asia

Arriving in Hong Kong in 1996, Stuart initially built up his strong business acumen in the hospitality industry, managing three of Hong Kong’s top restaurants. His flair for management coupled with his personable characteristics has proven a perfect balance for the event management business, and he’s organised large-scale corporate events for institutions such as Simmons & Simmons, SolomanSmithBarney, Deloitte Consulting and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
Stuart’s wide range of connections and contacts in the hospitality and entertainment businesses has enabled Team Building Asia to integrate innovative activities into the more traditional elements of team exercises, taking the company to a pioneering status in the region.
Prior to arriving in Hong Kong Stuart was employed in the UK-based DeVere group for four years; gaining experience in all departments at ‘The Dormy’ in Bournemouth before moving onto ‘The Belfry’ as Operations Manager.
 

Angela Lock, Deputy Executive Director, The British Chamber of Commerce

Angela’s first overseas experience was as a student representative selected by the Shanghai Municipal Government to visit Osaka, Japan, in 1998 for the 20th anniversary of Osaka’s sister-city relationship with Shanghai. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Fudan University before heading to Loughborough University in 2004 to complete her MSc, then spent four years working in the UK gaining experience in events management, marketing, and training. Returning to Shanghai in 2008, Angela joined the British Chamber as business events manager, later becoming a member of the business development team. In 2012, Angela became the deputy executive director, responsible for events, business development and marcoms functions. 

David Litteken, Managing Director , BI WORLDWIDE China

David has worked in the events and performance-improvement industry for 25 years. David was promoted to Managing Director-APJ in January 2013 and makes his home in Shanghai, China. David has been a member of BIW’s Executive Team at its Minneapolis HQ since June 2002, serving as Vice President of various divisions of the firm with responsibilities for client services, marketing communications, commercial sales, and fulfillment services. Prior to joining BIW in 1994, David worked in commercial sales and client services at Maritz Inc. for six years, where he focused exclusively on automotive accounts. David also served for three years as President of Edina A Better Chance, a non-profit educational organization that recruits minority youth with academic promise from across the United States to pursue educational studies at one of America’s leading public high schools. In addition, David has been on the Boards of a Minneapolis-based youth homeless organization (Oasis for Youth), the University of Missouri Alumni Association, and Recognition Professionals International. David graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Journalism with an emphasis on Advertising from the University of Missouri. David is a compassionate leader focused on delivering operational excellence and business results for BIW’s clients. 

Lisa Moi, Senior Marketing Director, Corporate Marketing, Reed Exhibitions Greater China

Lisa joined Reed Exhibitions China in 2004. Prior to joining Reed, she worked in the retail industry for large brands. Over the past 9 years with Reed, Lisa has managed and developed resourceful Marketing teams, directed the company’s corporate marketing and successfully marketed for a number of shows in various industries. 

Thomas Schutyser, Business Development Director, Letsface

Tom is business development director at Letsface, assisting the company with the expansion of its network and business organization in China and Asia. During his career he has served a number of world leading companies, both in Europe/EMEA and Asia, operating in sectors ranging from high tech visualization solutions; dredging, environmental and marine engineering works; IT consultancy in CRM solutions and international contract logistics. Tom is also member of the Board of the Benelux chamber of commerce in Shanghai, partner in RiverBanks Investments and director in Globe & Seas bvba.
A Belgian national, Tom holds a master in Business Economics from University of Leuven, Belgium and Barcelona, Spain. He is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Dutch, and speaks conversational level of German and Chinese. He is an accomplished author and photographer. He lives in Shanghai with his wife, Drieke, and their son, Josse.
 

Nicky Szmala, Digital Director China, Geometry Global

Nicky Szmala is the Digital Director at Geometry Global in China. He works at the intersection between digital marketing, technology and UX to create retail experiences, consumer-centered services and products that meet client targets and improve ROI.

In his 8 years of diverse work experience Nicky had the opportunity to work with leading brands across Europe and Asia such as Huawei, Vodafone, BMW and Microsoft.

Nicky is also a startup mentor and frequent speaker and has appeared on stage at Peking University, Tongji University and the British Chamber of Commerce.

Among others his work has been awarded by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and McKinsey & Company.

Leo Tang, Founder and CEO, Eventown

Tang Liang, Founder and CEO of Eventown Group. Mr. Tang was the leading person of Chinese Destination Management industry. He previously established the marketing division of CKGSB. Tang has won the title of Chinese National Leading Entrepreneurship Talent and Candidate Expert in the Effie Awards. It has been 14 years since he came back from Australia where he has studied in. Tang has over 10 years' experience in marketing and branding, as well as extensive understanding of brand and integrated marketing communications and new media, and he is a marketing expert in the internet field. He pioneers theory that combines IT with meeting event management in China.

 

Mr. Tang was the founder of Eventown Group, which has several subsidiaries, including 1) The instrumental vertical portal of www.eventown.com.cn, which is the first domestic professional information service platform that takes online queries and venue bookings, and offers venue information in 152 first-tier and second-tier cities in China. 2) Eventown is the first enterprise to offer and provide DMC services in China. Owing to Tang who has bought advanced international technology into Eventown. Eventown has a high reputation in destination managements and marketing services. He was the global member of Society of Incentive Travel Executives (Site); global member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the premier global association community for meeting and event professionals; global member of SKAL.
 

Michelle Toy, Vice President, Global Marketing, APAC, State Street

Michelle Toy is vice president within the Client and Marketing Solutions, Global Marketing team and heads up client engagement, sponsorships and events for Asia Pacific.
Prior to joining State Street in August 2010, Ms. Toy was vice president of Corporate Access at Nomura Securities Asia, based in Hong Kong. Previously she held vice president marketing positions at JPMorgan and marketing director positions at Loop Integrated Marketing and Experian Asia Limited. She has worked in Australia, Singapore, UK and Hong Kong.
Ms. Toy is a member of the Professional Women’s Network committee in State Street Asia Limited, Hong Kong. Ms. Toy earned a Masters of Marketing from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
